Chris Campbell (Pinoy Grooves) is a DJ, radio host & record collector with over 2 decades of experience. Having grown up around nightclubs, he started working in the cloakroom at just 14 at his fathers club Metro on Oxford Street. His father also having previously managed Mr B’s in Peckham and the legendary Whisky A’ Go Go / Wag club on Wardour Street for 20 plus years. This heavily influenced his formative years, growing up listening to all kinds of music which eventually led to him taking up DJing at 17 playing Indie Rock, Electro, New Wave, Post-Punk, Soul and Funk. In recent years he has been delving into his Filipino roots exploring rare grooves from The Philippines, specifically Pinoy Soul, Funk, Disco and Jazz. These days you can catch him playing all of the above and more.
Chris has DJed, produced events and curated playlists for the likes of Don Papa Rum, Oranj Wine, Brilliant Corners, Spiritland, The Wag Club, Apoy Restaurant, The Pilgrm Hotel, Charity Super.Mkt, Westfield London, Bluewater, Battersea Power Station, CelebrASIA, Diggers Dozen, Soundway Records, Servants Jazz Quarters, Our Place is Here, Jasmine Hemsley, Brixton Village Lates, Smoking Goat, Ancestral Wines, Sarap Restaurant Group, The Louies Group, The Adobros, Camberwell Fair, Mamasons (Maginhawa Group), Laine Pub Co., London Astoria (Mean Fiddler), The Barfly, The Social, Metro Club, Sin, Ten02 (Manila) and many more.
