The multi-talented Eddie Munji III played the guitar, piano, bass, flute, oboe, saxophone, strings and percussion. He produced and played over the decades on hundreds of records for many of the Philippines top artists. Here we have Pinoy Jazz featuring some of the Philippines finest musicians under the guidance of Munji. Produced by Jim Parades of Apo Hiking Society this album takes traditional Filipino folk songs and fuses them with strings and horns to give them a Jazz Funk twist.

In 1973 Munji toured the US as a three-piece band with Danny Javier of Apo Hiking Society and Tony Verlade of Jazz Friends. Munji was also the guitarist on Ryan Cayabyab’s debut album, “Roots to Routes,” which was dubbed “Pinoy Jazz II.”and also played guitar on Cayabyab’s 1980 pop-ballet, “Rama Hari,” Sadly he died in November 2012 of a stroke at the age of 57. A musical genius gone too soon.
