Helen Gamboa is a Filipina actress, singer, dancer and former beauty queen. In the late 1960s, Gamboa was given the title “Dancing Queen” of Philippine cinema and TV musicals. She released a number of soul covers throughout the 1960s and 70’s including “Band Of Gold”, “The In Crowd”, “Uptight”, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and many others. Some of which I will feature at a later date.
In the late 70’s early 80’s she release a couple of disco records under the name Bunny Chanel and she is still active today on Philippine Television.
Here we have the Shirley Ellis Northern Soul 1969 classic “Soul Time” and on the b-side Wilson Pickett’s 1965 hit “In The Midnight Hour”.
