Eddie Mesa with the Hi-Jacks – Money (That’s What I Want) / Roll Over Beethoven

Eduardo de Mesa Eigenmann or better known as Eddie Mesa, is a Filipino retired actor and singer. He was first discovered by talent agents when he sang a Sammy Davis song. Afterwards he changed his surname to his mother’s maiden name as Eddie Mesa, lead singer of Eddie Mesa And The Trippers. He was nicknamed the Elvis Presley of the Philippines during his time as an impersonator of Elvis.

Here we have a version of ‘Money (That’s What I Want)’ a song written by Tamla founder Berry Gordy and Janie Bradford that became the first hit record for Gordy’s Motown enterprise, the song being first recorded in 1959 by Barrett Strong. On the B-side ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ a 1956 hit single written by Chuck Berry, originally released on Chess Records.
